End-User 'Safe Video' Instructions

Select the version of Educational Video Library (EVL) you are using based on how the screen looks. EVL v7.03 has a blue background while EVL 7.02 has a black background, see below.

How to Watch approved Videos

Everyone has access to watch approved videos. Should you need a video added, please contact your Network Administrator to find out how.

  1. Open a web browser and type the web address provided by your Network Administrator for the 'Educational Video Library' (e.g. //ttc/safevideos/)
  2. Find the video
    • Search: You may search videos by Title, Tags, Added by or Category (subject.)
    • Latest Videos: Lists the five most recently added videos.
    • Most Viewed: Lists the top five watched videos.
    • Tags: Lists all the various video tags, helpful for finding videos of related content.
  3. Once found, click the Image or Title to view the video.

How to "Submit a Video"

Only users who've been granted special permissions may submit videos. If you don't have these permissions and need to submit a video, contact your Network Administrator to find out who does.

  1. Open a web browser and type the web address provided by your Network Administrator for the 'Educational Video Library' (e.g. //ttc/safevideos/)
  2. Click Login and enter your credentials.
  3. Click Submit a Video.
  4. Enter the URL of the Youtube.com video and click Get Video to display the following fields for completion.
    • Title: Here you may customize the title given to the video. (Required)
    • Category: A fixed list used for sorting videos by subject.
    • Tags: Keywords people may use when searching for this video. Select from the suggested, video specific tags or enter your own. (Required)
    • Notes: A description of the video.
    • Your Email Address: Informs the video reviewer of the person who submitted the video. Allows the submitter to receive an optional email upon approval. (Required)
    • Notify me when a video is approved: An email will be sent to the above-specified address, when the video has been approved.
  5. Click Submit Video
  6. The video will be displayed on the Home page once it has been reviewed and approved.

How to "Import YouTube Channel"

Only users who've been granted special permissions may submit videos. If you don't have these permissions and need to submit a video, contact your Network Administrator to find out who does.

  1. Open a web browser and type the web address provided by your Network Administrator for the 'Educational Video Library' (e.g. //ttc/safevideos/)
  2. Click Login and enter your credentials.
  3. Click Import YouTube Channel.
  4. Enter the URL of the Youtube.com video channel and click Get Channel Feed to display the following fields for completion.
    • Select a category for these videos: A fixed list used for sorting videos by subject.
    • Your Email Address: Informs the video reviewer of the person who submitted the video. Allows the submitter to receive an optional email upon approval. (Required)
    • Notify me when these videos are approved: An email will be sent to the above-specified address, as the videos are approved.
  5. Click Submit Video
    • Manual approval for each video in channel will be required if not using the automatically approve submissions option
    • Only the most recent 1,000 videos in this channel will be added
  6. The video will be displayed on the Home page once it has been reviewed and approved.

How to "Review Videos"

Only users who've been granted special permissions may review videos.

  1. Open a web browser and type the web address provided by your Network Administrator for the 'Educational Video Library' (e.g. //ttc/safevideos/)
  2. Click Login and enter your credentials.
  3. Click Review Videos.
  4. Videos for review: Displays all videos starting with Blocked videos, followed by Allowed videos newest to oldest. The following options are available:
    • Title: Displays the video title as seen by end user on the Home page.
    • Details: Plays video and displays its information in the left pane.
    • Allow/Block: Approval status of video. Only videos set to Allow will display on the Home page for end user access.
    • Delete: Removes the video from the database, requiring resubmission should the same video need to be allowed at another time. Confirmation is required before deletion.
  5. Click Details to watch the video and check all video information.
  6. Click Allow to approve the video, thus making the video accessible from the Home page for end users.

How to "Edit Video Details"

Only users who've been granted special permissions may edit video details.

  1. Open a web browser and type the web address provided by your Network Administrator for the 'Educational Video Library' (e.g. //ttc/safevideos/)
    • Video details may also be changed from within the TTC console under Reports > Educational Video Library > Approved Videos.
  2. Click Login and enter your credentials.
  3. Open the video you wish to edit and on the bottom left of the video click the option to Edit Video Details.
  4. After making the desired changes click Save Changes.

How to "Flag video as inappropriate"

Any video viewer can select the link "Flag this video as inappropriate" which is displayed at bottom left of the video window. If selected the message "Video has successfully been flagged and will be reviewed. Thank you." is returned to the viewer. Flagging a video will place the video in the Flagged Videos queue for review by applicable Video Contributors. A Reviewer may determine the video appropriateness by selecting Allow, which will place the video back in the Approved Videos queue. Otherwise, a Reviewer may block a video for further evaluation or delete a video from EVL if deemed inappropriate.

    • Your Email Address: Informs the video reviewer of the person who submitted the video. Allows the submitter to receive an optional email upon approval. (Required)
